Re: New Member? Introduce Yourself Here
Hi to all supporters! My name is Konrad, I´m nearly 40 and I´m living in Germany. I got my dog Luna from an animal shelter about 4 years ago. Luna is now 9,5 years old. She´s a Stafford-Labrador mix. I´ll do my best to support. I´ve just forwarded an e-mail to Kate Nicholas, she´s the girl from Britains got talent and owns the dancing dog Gin. She´s got a lot of contacts and I think she´ll support this campaign. Living in Germany I don´t know anything about the laws concerning dogs in Ireland. Is it correct that (only) Pit Bull breeds and crossbreeds are not allowed? His owner wrote: "Lennox is an American Bull dog cross, I seen both his parents, his mum was a Pedigree American Bull dog and his father was a cross between a Pedigree Staffordshire Bull Terrier and a Pedigree Black Labrador.Lennox is DNA registered." A DNA test would be the ultimate proof that Lennox has no Pit bull genes, wouldn´t it? If after all lennox can´t be brought back to his family and is threatened to be killed, what about "exporting" him to another country? I think that would be better than beeing killed!
Kind regards Konrad

Re: New Member? Introduce Yourself Here
Hi Konrad nice to have you on board, the dog law in the UK should apply to all of the UK but Northen Ireland seem to make their own law,"sorry they did not relax the change in the DDA law in 1997 with the rest of the U.K". anyway to take a dog from a loving family because of the way it looks is so so wrong, would be great to have Kate Nicholas hear about this as she could get Simon Cowell himself, a dog lover with a lot of power to put something into this, its to late to export Lennox as BCC now have him, as for the DNA the kennel club can give you a DNA kit but this may also involve the parent dog,not sure if they have their own data base so maybe no use .

I´ve just written an e-mail to http://www.animalsmatter.org/, Simon Cowell supports them and I´ve asked them if he could support this campaign. Kind regards and keep on fighting for Lennox and all the other poor dogs!!!

Hi lunathedog, again welcome aboard and thanks for all your continued support. Also, thank you for emailing those contacts, the more Lennox's story gets around the better for him! Thank you.

Re: New Member? Introduce Yourself Here
Sorry, this isn't really the thread for debate (perhaps a mod might move it if appropriate) but... Andy~Newcastle wrote: "sorry they did not relax the change in the DDA law in 1997 with the rest of the U.K". If "relax" refers to the '97 Amendment which gave courts discretion to exempt type dogs from destruction (subject to conditions) then Andy is correct that the Amendment didn't apply to NI. However revelations discovered during the (on-going) appeal of Bruce show that NI courts have had similar discretion since 2001. If Caroline is unsuccessful in refuting the allegation of type then she can apply for Lennox to be exempted. No dog can be exempted (in NI or the rest of the UK) without third party insurance and currently there is no provider of such cover to type dogs in NI. However DARD have finally written to Petplan (the insurance provider for type dogs in England, Scotand and Wales) asking them to extend cover to NI. The Bruce case has broken new ground and I hope that Caroline's solictors are fully conversant with the developments. I shall post some links that may be informative in the 'Links' section.

Welcome to the forum John. Please remember to post into the correct threads. I have checked your settings and all your posting should be working fine however there is a few topics within this forum that don't allow new topics to be started. Anyway John, welcome aboard.
As for Bruce, I can tell you all what I know as of yesterday. Bruce's hearing was again in court during the end of last week and from what I was told by the solicitor he has again had a stay of execution, I think another (yes another) hearing has been set but I am currently unaware of the date for this. To be honest folks, I really can't see Bruce being put down, off course this will drag on for another while wasting yet more vast sums of money thanks to the council especially when the goverment are asking all councils to make cuts and this council has already spent in excess of £17,500+ taking Bruce's owner to court, but I seriously feel that we'll see Bruce back home eventually.

Thank you, Admin. I think I was being somewhat dense. I hope you are right about Bruce. Hopefully the insurance issue will pave the way for his return.
