sorry to hear about your dog.

please note that pit bulls in northen irland CAN be exempted if they are not a danger to the public. the mandatory destruction was removed by the Dogs (Amendment) Act (Northern Ireland) 2001. please ensure the the judge and your laywer knows this law, too few seem to know about it. this is what happened to bruce and i want to make sure it doesn't happen to your dog.

i wish you the best of luck.

Post Re: Guests General Chat Area
Found out about Lennox's plight after reading about Bruce's triumph on The East Galway Animal Rescue site on Facebook.
I'm so sorry that you, your family and beloved pet are now suffering. Please, please focus on the positive signs, after Bruces release. Also take comfort that all us animal lovers out here, worldwide, are supporting you, and WILLING him to come home. I have posted your link to my facebook page, signed your petition, and will email your website to all my friends.
I cannot begin to rant about BSL, I'm too sad to do so, after reading about Lennox's situation. I am mum to a 'bull type' breed, here in the UK. He was a rescue from the RSPCA, and if his nose had been 1/2 an inch shorter, he would have been deemed 'unfit to rehome' due to this BSL b***sh** .... and put to sleep.
My Charlie was lucky only by the length of his nose ( that will be The English Bull Terrier mix in him, thank god for their long noses!!). Its ridiculous. Like Lennox & Bruce, our boy has never hurt another soul ... the thought of him being torn away from us, would kill us.
NI need to address their misinterpration of the BSL Laws NOW!!!!
Wishing you all the best thoughts & wishes in getting Lennox home xxx

A short internet searched yielded the following information:

Yolanda Elwood, the Belfast Dog Control Manager has done this before:

http://www.dogmagazine.net/archives/310 ... ieved-dog/

She seized 2 dogs, one of whom was only 7 months old. Finally, after a year of keeping the dogs in individual cages without human or canine interaction, Elwood returned the dogs to their owner, Ms. Irene Chambers. The 7 month old, not having been with the other dog for a year, reportedly became aggressive. Elwood forced Ms Chamber to have her 7 month old put down.

I think that Irene Chambers and the Barnes family need to get together and find other families harmed by this law. I went to the petition site and signed the petition, but pressure from local residents would have much more effect.

Would phone calls or emails to the Belfast city council directly help?
